I have a SKP file saved on my desktop and when I go to open it, it says “This does not appear to be a Sketchup model!”. The file extension has SKP so I’m not sure what’s going on with it. I need help asap, please!!!
No. 16 Mb is. You should be able to upload that. Are you uploading the .skp file?
In any case uploading and sharing the link as I wrote should make it possible for @colin to get your model and try to do something with it to help you.
It just continues to “process”. And, when I attempt to upload the file to drobox to share the link, this is what happens. It doesn’t allow me to upload it there for some reason. I’m not technologically savvy so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
What you are showing there appears to be a shortcut to a file that is already store in the cloud, not locally. Is that correct? Copying from one cloud location to another could be problematic. Download the file to your computer and then try sharing it.
Also, if you’ve been working one the file directly from the cloud, that’s likely the reason for it becoming corrupted.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure if this is a copy of the file I have in the cloud. This is on a previous employee’s computer desktop. She used to work on a SKP file and save it to her local desktop then upload it to the cloud when she was done. So, I’m not sure if this file is the most current one. The file that’s saved in the cloud only has the dwg file that was imported to start drawing the model and I’m certain she told me she had completed some things on the model. Is there a way to tell if there are previous versions or something? I don’t want to have to redo work that she’s already done.
If the file was locally saved on your computer it wouldn’t have the little brown box symbol at the lower left. That symbol implies it’s a shortcut and not the actually file. Right click on the Heim.skp icon and choose Properties. You should be able to see the path to the file there.
Maybe there is another SketchUp model file actually saved in a folder on the computer.
OneDrive is cloud storage and the icon is just a shortcut to that cloud location. Look through the Documents and other folders on the computer for a similarly named SketchUp file. Maybe your predecessor left another copy somewhere.
Since there’s no header information in your file I wouldn’t count on Colin being able to help you. While you’re waiting you should go ahead and get started building the model again.
