This does not appear to be a Sketchup model! - Please help asap

The SketchUp file is not properly constructed. There’s missing file data at the beginning of the file. I don’t know why that happened and I have no idea how you’ve been handling the files.

Again, while you wait for Colin to be able to look at your model, you should get busy rebuilding it in case he can’t recover it.

Ancak bunu kurtarabildim. Çok önemli benim için. :palms_up_together:

It doesn’t look like you were able to save this SketchUp file. If it’s an important file you should be getting on with remaking it.

Peki colin şuan bana yardım ediyor mu?

I don’t know. He may be busy helping someone else right now. I told you to be patient and give him a chance.

Hi, I have the same problem, I was working on the file last night. When I came to open it this evening, SketchUp says it isn’t a model. I have a previous version saved but I’ve lost a day worth of work if it is corrupted. Any suggestions?

Your file zips to less than 1.5% of the size of you shared indicating the file is all zeroes. Do you have the .skb backup copy of the file?

Where were you saving this file as you were working on it?

Hi, I do, but it is showing as a blank sheet of paper icon, rather than a thumbnail of the model. It won’t let me upload it up here.

I was, in fact the previous version I have is from about a week ago so there have been several saves whilst I was progressing it up until last night. I’ve tried copying the .skb file and renaming it to a .skp version but that doesn’t have any effect.

I see the “blank paper” icon for .skb files, too. Not a big deal.

Upload it to DropBox or Google Drive and share the link. It may not be viable, either, though.

Where have you been saving it?

This particular file I have been saving to a Seagate Basic external drive plugged into my laptop using a USB port.

Very likely that’s the source of the issue with your file.

That’s cause #1 to get corrupted files, you should work with files storaged in your local storage device all the time, if you work with files storaged in external devices or the cloud there can be problems while the file is being saved and it will damage your file sometimes without solution.

Darn it! Thanks anyway.

I looked at your .skb file. Unfortunately it has the same issue.

As @francisquitof wrote you should work with files saved on your internaldrive. If you need to make them portable copy them to an external drive. Or better, publish them to your Trimble Connect storage, You have unlimited storage included with your subscription. Then you can access the files from another computer. Publishing your files to Trimble Connect also generates incremental versions and, if you want to let your clients or someone else look at your models, you can send them a link to view them in the online viewer.

Thanks, I guess I’ll be looking at that option. Typical that it would happen at a crucial point when I’d made progress on the model yesterday.

Sorry. Hopefully it won’t take you as long to get the same progress today.

I think I may have replied in other topics. Mavi8711 file is random data, and steelerblue file is filled with zeros.

Başka bir çözümü yok mu? @colin
