Can you tell me which viewport(s) aren’t staying as set?
FWIW, I had a look at the SketchUp file. Fixed incorrect tag usage …
… and purged unused stuff from the model.
That reduced the SketchUp file size by about 48%.
I notice as I go through the scenes that the model is not centered in the model window. If it was I expect there’d be fewer problems in LayOut.
The 4 exterior perspectives are not staying set
Is it possible the scenes are getting updated in the SketchUp model? As it is in the file you sent me, the viewports don’t reflect what the viewports show.
It maybe that I need to fit the entire model into the view and set the view but typically once I have my view chosen, I don’t mess with it. In Layout, I needed to adjust the viewport window to show the entire building, but even so, in the past it would not reset the image scale and re-center like it does now.
In terms of incorrect tag usage, can you tell me what I need to be doing differently?
I’ve been using LayOut since it was released and have always found it best to have the part of the model I’m interested in centered in the model space. It also makes it easier to align the viewports. Here for example I fixed the elevation views so the model is aligned vertically in the space. Look at the horizontal axis in each screenshot and notice how it’s in the same location. That makes it dead simple to set up the elevation viewports on the page. You can set up E1, use Copy/Paste and then change the scene for the new viewport to E2 and move it horizontally. Copy both viewports and paste them. The change them to E3 and E4 and move them straight down.
Much less monkeying around.
ALL edges and faces should be created and remain untagged. Only groups and components should get tags.
I made a video showing how the alignment I made in SU works in LO.
I might be inclined to align the house in E1 and E3 without regard for the stoop on the side but I didn’t bother doing that here.
I am just realizing that this is a public post, I thought that I had sent this as a direct message.
I appreciate this information Dave although it seems like my main issue was not really addressed.
Now that we are auditing our assets, we are concerned that this perspective viewport issue is going to ruin our detail library (1000 + drawings)
Do you know if there it is going to revert to a past method for updating references or something? We probably need to got back to 2022 to avoid what we fear.
It looks like I will need to rebuild some of our template assets to make them more lean. When I finally get around to that, can I send it to you for feedback/recommendations?
