Textures not showing outside of groups

I am drawing 2D elevations in Sketchup and ran into a strange issue: textures are only showing when editing groups, but not outside of groups. So, I have to double click on a group for the textures to show. When outside of the group, the textures are not visible. If I extrude the geometry into 3D, the textures are visible. They are also visible when applied to faces of loose/ungrouped geometry.

Is there a way to have textures display in 2D groups?

I’m not sure I’m getting what you’re describing, could you upload the file please ? either directly here if it’s not big, or through a cloud service
