Hi, can anyone help with why my textures suddenly disappearing & show text as attached. Dimensions also disappear or say front/back etc instead of the dimension…
Hi Neil,
Can you share the .skp file so we can see what you have set up? Send it via a PM to me if you don’t want to make it public.
Do you know where the word "Front comes from?
Hi Dave, thanks for picking up… No idea where the text comes from? Can you please remind me how to attach a .skp file as might be too large & i’ve forgotten method?
Upload the file to DropBox or We Transfer and then share the link.
The only thing that I can guess is that some extension is behind what you see.
I thought the same but no idea what it could be?
I’ve never seen that red “Front” like your first screenshot shows. I have also not been able to find any dimensions at all in the model. One thing I note is that the worktop group was scaled but its definition wasn’t updated. That could be a problem. Resetting the scale for that group results in this.
Simply moving the group over to the blue wall will fix that.
Is there a specific scene that is active when you see that?
BTW, I also note you have Length Snapping enabled in Units. It’s generally best to turn that off.
ETA: Which graphics engine are you using? If you change to the other one and restart SketchUp do you see the same thing?
Thanks, snapping now off! It happens periodically. I’m using classic engine as the new engine gives me jagged lines for some reason… never been able to rectify that? There are no dimensions in this model but happens often when used. I think I’ll try uninstalling a few of the extensions I dont really need & see if improves. Thanks for help…
Wait! Before you uninstall extensions, see if you get the same behavior in this model.
Burdess Bot Kitchen Measured 2 purged.skp (15.2 MB)
I fixed the scaling of the worktop group although I didn’t look at any other objects for that. I also fixed incorrect tag usage …
… purged unused stuff from the model …
… and reduced the huge textures to something more reasonable.
That reduced the file size by more than 78%, too. Maybe in the process this cleanup removed the problem thing.
Thanks a lot Dave, will give it a whirl & see if improved. I really do need to get into the habit of keeping model cleaner/lighter etc so this may be a good thing…
