Out of nowhere, my dimensions disappear (not all, but most of them). i can get them back when i press ctrl+z. But when i open my file the next day, the dimensions are gone.
The Hide buttons are both off, in the Expert dimension settings.
when i go to my Statistics, it says there are 20 dimensions, instead off the +40 i made.
Hope someone can help
Have you uploaded the correct file?
I open the file and all dimensions are visible.
When I go into statistics it says you only have 13 dimensions, not the 40+ you say you made.
You have a few dimensions tagged to wandlampen but thats it.
hi cappo, this is the correct file. i had to delete a vew stuff due to the big file. as u can see, there are indeed only 13 dimensons. the others are already missing in this file (not all light points have dimensions, but i did make them). i cant get them back and i dont know why they disappear.
I noticed that they disappear out of nowhere. When i press ctrl+z they come back. Then, i work a little while and nothinh is wrong. When i safe and close the file, and i open it again, they are gone again and i cant get them back
The fact that ctrl-z (undo) brought them back was proof that whatever you did immediately before caused them to disappear. Only you can (or could - it is too late now) know what that was. SketchUp does not create undoable operations on its own. Alas, the undo memory is lost when you save and later reload a file, so we may never know the cause.
thanks.
the only thing i do right before the dimensions are disappearing when im working in the file, is making new dimensions (i think).
The weird thing is, i save my file when the dimensions are still there. this i a preview that my folder is showing. you can see there are a lot more dimensions shown. when i open this file, most dimensions are gone. i use sketchup for over 10 years, never had this problem…
Could that preview be for the backup skb file, not the skp? The preview is an image of the current view when the file is saved. It shouldn’t be possible for it to show something different than what you get when you re-open the file after saving it!
It would appear at this point those dimensions are just gone. It’s probably not possible for us to tell you exactly why. Maybe you selected them to hide them and instead of clicking Hide in the Context menu, you clicked Erase?
I wonder why you aren’t adding the dimensions and text in LayOut. You would have better control of their appearance in LayOut.
Thanks for trying to help. i’m hoping there is a solution found to prevent this in the future, maybe another way of working.
i’m not used to work with LayOut yet. Adding dimensions is not something i do a lot, so for time management i do it like this (instead of learning LayOut first, although its on my wish list, i didn’t had the time to learn yet)
also, my coworker, who is sometimes working in the same file, is also experiencing this for the first time. We are not accidentally hide or delete the same amount of dimensions. maybe its a bug…
