Got an irritating issue. Probably something I’m not seeing but I’ve looked everywhere!
I had to upgrade to SU 2026 to be able to add a location. I haven’t used this feature for a while and it now appears it’s redundant in SU 2023. I had been holding off updating SU as I have always found it to be a bit traumatic upgrading when the version I was using does everything I want.
Anyway, I’ve installed 2026 and now I can’t find a feature. I’ve added a location and got the location in to my model. However, I appear to have lost the ability to switch the terrain on and off, i.e. show a flat version of the location. I have had a look a round and there was a suggestion using the “Add Location” toolbar. Trouble is the toolbar doesn’t show the ‘ wiggly’ terrain button mentioned. Might be a Mac issue??? Changing options in Tags just makes the whole location image disappear. I’ve tried installing the location again as a flat option. Trouble is, I have moved the original import and now I have to try and line up the 2 versions.
As ever, any advice gratefully received and sorry if I’ve missed something obvious. Cheers.
I think the issue may be that I didn’t include the flat plan as an option when I did the initial location. As I said I have moved/rotated the terrain and so a second import is not in the same position. Can I add the flat information to my original import or will I have to start again???
Yes, run Add location again, disable 3D and enable Flat (2D) and import it. It will be positioned where the terrain is.
I tested with a terrain that I moved and rotated just for this case.
Sorry for the wrong image format, I thought PDF was the most universal.
Not sure why it’s working for you and not for me? I think I may have moved the little flag thing when I captured the first terrain. I’ll take a look and see if I can actually establish the position. Thanks for your help so far.
And the third time, with the terrain moved-rotated and the position icon moved. It works.
As you can see, the PDF file you inserted in your post must be downloaded to be viewed. And PDFs from unknown sources are to be avoided.
You can just insert the jpg into the message and it is visible automatically, no need to download, no need to install a viewer.
Hi there, i also tried the same workflow on Windows and it worked for me. @Keniff i’d like to understand if you finally managed to achieve what you wanted or not really?
So. I’ve redone the workflow in a new file and it seems to work ok. The flat terrain is coming in rotated and moved in the correct position in the file. I cannot however get the original file to do the same! Clearly there is something a miss. I will have to re-do the job and get it to the same state. Not a massive deal but a little frustrating.
