After I pick on the shortcut key ‘T’ the Tape measure tool (by default) should appear, how ever it does not. what is worse is that when I activate the ‘Large Tools Set’ the Tape measure tool is active and works but after I pull a guide off of any line the guide disappears… this was working 20 minutes ago but just stopped. Why?
Clearly SketchUp didn’t change in the last 20 minutes. Try a cold reboot of your computer and see what happens.

However this is new, I’ve go into the default sketchup with Sree there as the avatar… the tape measure tool still doesn’t activate but when I pick of the Large Tools Set - tape measure tool button, the guides somehow work…???
Hard to tell whether that was meant to be sarcastic or angry (or both), but please understand this is a mutual support user group, not official tech support. We are almost all unpaid volunteers who just like to help others.
To answer your question from previously, My View>Guides is checked and shows the letter ‘T’ as the shortcut but as before there is no response from the letter ‘T’ after it is picked?

please understand - my frustration/sarcasm isn’t with any one on this thread. I’ve been using SketchUp since March of 2006. This problem has never occured. I use guides/Tape measure Tool exclusively for every and all models. My apologies if to anyone who I have made to feel unworthy in this case. I’m sorry.
slbaumgartner - I’ve worked with DaveR in the past and there is no other user I trust more than him - he is a SketchUp hero in my eyes. Not sarcasm, only fact!

Are you still using SketchUp 2025? Which operating system? Your profile shows both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Still the nVidia GTX1650?
Can you share a file in which guides you’ve placed aren’t appearing? A simple file should do it. Let’s see what your file looks like on a different machine.
As for the keyboard shortcut, what happens if you add a different keyboard shortcut for the Tape Measure tool? Maybe try the F4 key since it probably isn’t used by anything else.
So since the last time we corresponded I upgraded to SketchUp 2026 and my system administrator also launched windows 11 and I’m still rocking the nVidia GTX 1650. Ok Dave, I launched another sketchUp default with “Sree”. It turns out my guides in the shortcut was not on even though I viewed it under View>Guides. After that I activated my Tape measure Shortcut key back to the letter ‘T’ everything seems to be working fine - so I when back into my original file and I tried to repeat the same thing and it didn’t work at all. So I’m forced to redo the entire file all over again. I believe what might have happened is that my file is so Large (130 Gb) that it is forcing the program to not work correctly. Anyways, thank you for being here for me. Being able to correspond to you helps to calm me down and troubleshoot. Thanks Dave.
I’m glad you got it working after a fashion.
When you installed SU2026 did you right click on the installer and select Run as administrator? If not, I would suggest closing SketchUp, finding the installer, right clicking on it, and choose Run as administrator followed by Repair when the option is presented. Make sure this is done under your Windows login.
You might also check with nVidia for updated drivers for that old GPU. Wouldn’t hurt to update the drivers if there are updates available.
130 GB is a pretty huge file and that might have something to do with it. It’s been a long while since I’ve seen a file that large. Are you sure it’s cleaned up? Maybe you don’t have to redo the file. Maybe a bit of a crash diet is in order.
