SU Make 2017 failed due to lack of acceleration on graphics card. Need guidance how to overcome the problem without replacing existing hardware. I did get driver updates for Intel HD Graphics 5500 and for NVidia GeForce 940M.

Have you set SketchUp to use the Nvidia card in the 3D application settings in the Nvidia Control Panel. I have set all 3D apps to use Nvidia:

Did you get your driver upgrade directly from the Nvidia website?

Thank You! I made the settings in NVIDIA Control Panel as directed, and SketchUp 17 is up and running.

I don’t have a Nvidia Graphics Card but I do have a Intel Graphics 4600. I am unable to figure out how I can access the Intel control panel to change the 3d settings. any ideas?

no need in doing that because you then have no alternative in running on the integrated low-performance intel HD only.

The most important aspect of trying to use an integrated Intel graphics is finding a driver version that works with SketchUp. The Intel OpenGL drivers are notorious for bugs.
