SU-Layout is on strike -how to get it back to work!

Hi,
is it possible to reinstall layout separately?

The Story:
I had trouble with a layout drawing, something (? ) completely destroyed it, so a closed LO without saving.

Restarting LO:
LO opened and immediately closed again without any further notification.
I tried a repair installation.

Same result:
SU works LO not (opens up and closes down again).

I installed the new patch: SU - 2025 0 - 660 - 288 (as administrator) - same result.

The drawing works with SU 2025 and SU 2024, it works with Layout 2024 - without problems.
But Layout 2025 is on strike.

Now in order not to start the couplet installation from the beginning:
“Is it possible to reinstall layout separately?”

No. But reinstalling SketchUp and LayOut won’t hurt SketchUp if it’s installed correctly. Right click on the installer, choose Run as administrator and then select the Repair option.

Hi Dave that is exactly what a tried several times, unfortunately it didn’t work out.

Are you having this issue when you try to open the Layout file that you were working on or even when you try to open a new empty file.

when I try to open LO it crashes
and
when I try to open a skp-file , or send a SU-file fom SU to Layout, it crashes too.

Meanwhile SU opens and guess what: crashes too.

I tried it without internet connection: same result!

Next:
I’ll try to install the latest graphic card driver - if there is any.
Unfortunately I’ll have to delete SU completely and reinstall it.
I already had to do it once in 2025!
I love Sketchup, but that is annoying.
Something doesn’t seem to fit together (PC-graphic card -SU???).

Did you use the migrate extensions plugin to copy the extensions from 2024 to 2025, some time ago I discovered that this plugin was causing crashes.
Do you know what graphics engine were you using before the crashes started? Maybe changing to the old engine could fix the problem but I don’t know a way to do it without actually opening layout.

Have you sent the bugsplats reports with your mail? If you have, @colin can check them and try to find a solution with the developers.

I used the migration extension some month ago, when I started SU 2025.

Unfortunately I just installed the GeForce driver (576.52) and don’t remember the old one.

But SU is running now, and I feel it runs a little faster.

But LO is still not working at all.

I think I sent the bugsplats, but I do not receive bugsplats when Layout opens up and shuts down a second later.

I’ll look at that again.

Make sure to put your information on the bugsplats report and also describe what you were doing before the crash is very helpful. You can also share on the forum the crash code.

It looks quite unspectacular:

I had the same issue a few weeks ago — SketchUp wouldn’t open.
The only thing that helped was to completely uninstall SU 2025 (preferably using Revo Uninstaller), and then manually check and delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2025
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2025

After that, install the latest version of SketchUp.

By the way, I have the same graphic Nvidia RTX A4000— no more problems so far

nah, they do. they have people all around the world, and these days, they can translate stuff…

Something to try - find the folder where the recovered files are saved for LayOut - delete the folder. Then try and restart. I had an issue where a corrupt recovered file was causing crashes as it couldn’t get past trying to load this file. Once I cleared that folder all was working.
