It’s so pretty
Thank you sir.
It’s hard to find a view that works well to show some of the details. I don’t think this one will ever get screw threads.
I have been looking through some of your many drawings that have hatches used in the cut-away views. Do you make your own hatches or use the defaults provided in SketchUp? If you are making them, how do you do it?
Usually I just use one of the hatches from the Patterns collection but often edit them to add color. Nothing terribly involved. I have made my own hatch pattern textures starting from either something drawn in SketchUp or in LayOut. Even those are extremely simple.
This one uses two versions of the same hatch pattern. I made a second copy of it in the model and then edited each one of them in an image editor to add the color.
Do you think you’ll be doing more hero images of your engine models in SU now, instead of VRay?
I didn’t know they were hero images but probably. Not as many options in SketchUp but also not as much time invested to get a result.
Changing environment settings between scenes.
Haven’t gotten to downloading it yet. Which environment features animate between scenes? Can you make the sky spin?
Sure.
Watch the Environments panel on the right.
Another older model in SketchUp 2025. Fabric and floor are using materials from the curated 3D Warehouse offerings.
Cool Dave! Nice to see your examples of the upgraded rendering capabilities in SU2025.
I assume that blanket was modelled in ClothWorks? Is it still being actively developed/supported?
Thanks. Yes, the blanket was done with Clothworks. I’m not sure when it last had an update but it works fine in SketchUp 2025. I just added the blanket this morning. I think Anton would update it if it needed it.
A little 3D printing project. This is a clip to go on a small diameter tube. The smaller piece is printed from flexible TPU while the larger one is made ot PETG. It’s an experimental design for another wheelchair accessory.
A lousy picture from my phone. I need to get some slightly shorter screws.
I was working on a tutorial for modeling dice but then found there was no need. Since the model is made, though …
Nice dice. Just don’t try and use it in Vegas.
