well, for 300+ dollars we should at least be able to complain

So many people say “uh, the French complain about EVERYTHING all the time”

after a year on this forum, I have to say, I didn’t know so many Sketchup users, paying or free, were in fact, French.

There wasn’t a problem on Mac. It is fixed now for Windows.

gotcha, rarely used it in the past, even in class.

I don’t think I will Dave !

I have copied the old icons to the relevant images folder in the SketchUp program folder and it doesn’t work for SketchUp – but it does work for Layout.

This icon change has greatly diminished my enjoyment of using SketchUp – we should have an option to keep using the classic icons.

The new icons are cleaner and nicer. I like it.

Heck yes! Yours is a constructive complaint, though – about the Walk tool – so we appreciate it. FYI, it is inspired by the Japanese national park signage.

I know correlation does not imply causation but I think you are on to something here - every forum I belong to must be filled with the French…:face_with_monocle:

The number of French people in African-based forums are dropping though.

I would certainly upgrade, Sketchup is smooth and nice, and Layout is crawling slowly towards being actual software. Text/Leaders in Layout is faster.

The new icons look is basically OK, but the contrast is ridiculous poor - especially when small icons used.
Tiny light blue lines on grey? You can’t be serious…

They are very hard to see/read. Is there a way to increase the contrast? The same goes for the application icons. They need another round of crits before releasing them. Are you listening Trimble???

I’ve just installed the latest update hoping it would fix the problems I’ve been having.

But NO!!

Still shrinking certain components or parts of components within a model saved in 2022 or lower (doesn’t happen in any previous version only 2023)

And…if you adjust a scene view and updated the scene and then click on another scene tab Sketchup crashes. It doesn’t crash if you save the file after updating the scene before you click on the next tab.

Does anyone else have issues with SketchUp crashing upon open? How do I go back to the previous version. I crash once i select one of the templates. I updated all drivers.

How do I roll back to the previous version? @DaveR you are always quick with the snappy comeback I sure could use that now. I already went through scketchup support but it takes them a few hours.

You would use the Windows’ Add Remove Programs control panel to remove SketchUp 2023, then run the older installer. If you don’t still have that you can get it from here: https://www.sketchup.com/sketchup/2023/SketchUpPro-exe

ugh. so no way to save all of the plug-ins that are installed and licensed?

I notice that you have sent in 41 bugsplats for crashes with 2023.0.2, thanks for sending those in.

If you still have 2022 installed you can run that instead. If not you can get it here:

If the new crashes you mentioned are for 2023.1, can you send in at least one bugsplat for that, so I can see if it’s crashing for the same reason it did in 2023.0.2?

yes you can. before deleting SU23, you can go copy the plugin folder somewhere safe.

when returning to SU22? you can either clean install everything or copy the content of your plugin folder in SU22 plugin folder.
BUT if you do that, be careful about crashes and stuff. you might need to uninstall / reinstall some extensions anyway.

it’s the pair of solution when it comes to version transfer, either clean install (extension warehouse + sketchucation) or direct copy and pray it all goes well
