I received a 3D model (skp) of the exterior of my house from a company called Hover. When I try to open it, I get the message “unexpected file format”. Hover has sent several different files with the same results. File size is 1.8MB
Share the file so we can see what you’ve got.
Your profile indicates you are using “Free Plan” SketchUp “24-0-553”. Does that mean it’s a cr acked version? The current version of SketchUp for Windows is 24.0.594.

I am using a free trial of the desktop version.
Where did you get it? Only the latest version would be available from SketchUp. The 7-day trial is not a free plan.
The file is missing some data. How is the file being sent to you?
I signed up for the 7-day trial and downloaded directly from SketchUp website. When I opened it this morning, it ran a update to the version listed above (see attached screenshot).
The file from Hover was sent via to me via email.
I wonder if they could send it to you via DropBox or something. It may be that the file is being corrupted in the emailing process.
Thank you. I will reach out to them and see if a different file delivery is available.

I was able to get an updated file from Hover that I could open in SketchUp. Thank you for taking the time to review the file I sent and provide feedback.
