SKP 24. Issue with location - file freezes

My model freezes immediately now as soon as I try clicking Fil e-> Location.
Context Notes:

  1. When I first installed the software, it was working for about 1 week
  2. For the past 3 weeks this occurs even with a new model with (0) geometry
  3. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software
  4. I have run it as an admin to fix the software
  5. The issue may have coincided with the installation of Escape for SketchUp but I have tried uninstalling both softwares and only reinstalling SketchUp and the problem persists.
  6. I have tried making sure the graphic card is selecting the GeForce card and not the secondary card.
  7. I have tried settting SKPs graphic setting to “classic”

Thank you for your help, I am stuck!

Is this specific to a model file? Do you have the same result with a new, blank file?

yes good question, same result with a new blank model - thanks

Have you downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia to install?

Do this mean you right clicked on the installer and used Run as administrator?

Yes to both, I confirmed I have the latest drivers and I have right clicked and run as admin

Any other ideas ?

Do you have the correct edition of the Add Location extension?

SketchUp 2024 must use the newer edition from the Extension Warehouse.
You must not copy over the old edition from previous SketchUp versions.

Also, Add location is a web feature. There are network ports that must be open and usable. See:

Thank you, Dan,
I installed the latest extension, uninstalled Enscape and checked connectivity issues but the problem presists…

Contact support via the website or your reseller and open a ticket.

BTW, I have the same exact CPU but with a GTX 1060 running under Win 11, but I just tried and Add Location worked as expected.

I would also suggest signing out “of all things Trimble”, close SketchUp, restart and relogin from the Welcome window. Then try to geo-location a model again.

There was a problem where if you added a location to a model that had zero geometry, the add location window would get stuck after the first step. That was fixed, though I’m not sure if it was a fix to the online code, or an update to the extension. Like Dan said you could try the later extension:

Or, you could draw a face before adding the location, then it shouldn’t get stuck.
