SketchUp has been central to my work, and I love it—but it’s has also been a struggle.
It’s not an intuitive software. It took me persistence of mostly teaching myself before I felt like I broke through. Only in the last couple of years I found good resources, invest in real training—and I realized how much I’d missed.
The new 2025 version has exciting updates—but once again, users are left to figure it out on their own. Why doesn’t SketchUp offer structured training/education? At the very least, they could point users to reliable outside resources.
Not everyone learns the same way or at the same pace. Supporting your users with training is how you build a stronger, more loyal community.
SketchUp: you’ve built a great tool. Now help people learn how to use it.
