Sketchup temporarily freezes after creating the first component only

I’m having a strange, but repeatable, problem with SketchUp Pro 2015. The very first time I create a component, it freezes for about 5 seconds, (give or take) after clicking “create”. Every component creation after that is fine, with no delay whatsoever. This happens regardless of whether I’ve opened an existing model, or started a new model from scratch. There seems to be a connection between the complexity of the model and the length of the pause, but it seems to have nothing to do with the complexity of the component I’m creating. On a brand new file the pause is about 5 seconds, and on a large model the pause can be nearly 30 seconds.

It can’t be my computer’s fault because I’m running SketchUp on an M.2 SSD with a Quad-core Xeon processor with 32GB of RAM and a 4GB Quadro K4200 GPU.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Andrew

Yes I have - and the issue is being looked into by Trimble.

What helped me is to go into Model Info \ Statistics and Click on “Purge Unused” (just once at startup), then go and create your component.
