I am working on very important sketchup file and suddenly it has stopped working. when I try to open that file it is showing “failed to open Document” or “unexpected file format”. is this file corrupted? how to fix it?
share your file. hard to diagnose without checking on the patient.
also, your profile says 2023 classic, is it a craked version ? if so it could explain why the file is not responding.

it’s a 1 Gb file.
from the get go, I can tell you it’s certainly overbloated. and the bigger the file, the bigger the risk of corruption at any moment.
it won’t open here either, and after a LONG time, I managed to look at the code inside, about half of it is zeroes
check your skb if you have it (rename it to skp) otherwise… sorry.
oh and purge. purge your files. there is no way a normal file would weight 1Gb.
you go to window/model info / statistics and you purge your models.

converted it to skp and it worked.

Newer versions of sketchup can detect and delete if you have corrupted components and version 2025 gives you the option to purge your file every time you save. Is there a reason why you keep using Sketchup 2023? You can upgrade to sketchup 2025 without any charge.
