Sketchup scenes are not retrieved by Trimble Connect

I completely agree with you glro.

Having to do a workaround is ridiculous, sharing manual photos of the scenes like other users suggest… What?.. This is all silly. Trimble Connect needs to bring over the published sketchup models scenes so that team members and customers can view the various scenes of the model in TC easily and quickly, without the admin having to recreate scenes or make photos slides, all that junk…

Plain and simple, scenes help to simplify and perfectly communicate a model to another person. The fact that scenes are not carried over into the TC file is ridiculous and just adds more manual work that needs to be done when using any of Trimbles products. Trimble products have so much manual work arounds it’s stupid. Trimble and it’s products are primarily targeted towards professionals yet the amount of manual work arounds required to make these programs work well is crazy. The idea for Trimble should be to get rid of as much of these manual solutions/workarounds as possible. The programs should just work and crossover seamlessly… They do not.

I wrote a program with 2 parts:

  • first part, written in ruby, that uses 7z to compress the sketchup file with a password

  • second part, written in libertybasic, that decompress the file and opens it in sketchup viewer

there is no way to save the model in sketchup viewer, and i made a filter that checks if the computer that tries to open the sketchup file, has been previously registered.
if not, the second part does not open the sketchup file

so i can share a sketchup file with its scenes, without giving the possibility to copy it

this is what we were supposed to get from trimble connect; but since they would not do it, i did it mysel
