Trying to share SU model with client using Trimble Connect but no scene tabs show up

Hello All,

I run SU version 2019 and historically have shared 3d models with clients using SU Viewer. I took a year off working and recently returned and now find SU viewer is not supported. Only way I have found so far is to upload my model to Trimble Connect then send link to clients. The link opens fine but all the scene tabs are lost and they are unable to navigate the model easily. I had a brief view of this issue but not clear to me if there is a way to preserve the scene tabs, or is there another way to share file with clients? I cant imagine having to go around and create multiple scene tabs everytime I upload a new model for them to review.

Hope there is a simple fix, Thanks in advance.

SketchUp scenes do not translate to a model viewed in Trimble Connect.

With our new collaboration tools in 2026, you can send a direct link to a SketchUp model that opens in an online SketchUp viewer, NOT the Trimble Connect Viewer.

Is the collaborator bar available in v2019? I am not interested to upgrade to 2026 only in order to share scene tabs with my clients.

no, it’s not an extension, it’s an integral part of sketchup 2026.

at this point, especially with the change of engine + the update of Ruby, you can expect that none of the new functionalities, even the ones in an extension, will be compatible with 2019.
extensions might, depending on their complexity. but rule of thumb says no.

You would also need a current paid subscription to take advantage of all of the Trimble Connect features.

Thanks - I feel like something I paid for (v2019 and associated functionality) has been taken from me and am now forced to subscribe. Doesn’t sit well.

Well, if you only work with sketchup 2019, then you’re fine using sketchup viewer. it’s been discontinued, true, it’s not supported by more recent versions, but it will open your files all right.

the only change is that you have to provide the installer to your clients.

unless off course they run into compatibility issues with their OS, but there, that’s a matter of choice. you choose to stick with 2019, sketchup chose to switch to a subscription and later to stop updating the old viewer, and apple / microsoft choose to implement updates that might break the old viewer.

This wasn’t taken away from. You didn’t have it to begin with.

Thanks for clarifying and pointing out I can send installer. But seems you all are right and there-in lies the rub - will get squeezed out eventually.

When you own a classic car, camera, motorcycle, bicycle, whatever - it’s the same - parts are hard to find, compatibility with new tech doesn’t really work, speed, safety, efficiency are usually locked into when you bought it.

I wish I had disc brakes on my classic steel Colnago.
