I model very high end custom homes and part of my process is that I sent my model to the client after I present it so they can view it on their own. My models can be up to 600+ mb and the viewer allows the model to open including the scene tabs which I set up for them. I have been doing this process for years. To find out that a great free tool like the viewer has been discontinued is very disappointing and frustrating to me. These are people that just need a brief access to Sketchup and would never need / use it otherwise so it’s not fair to ask them to buy a paid version. I would request that the viewer for desktop download be made available again - Please!!! I can’t ask my clients to pay a fee. I’d rather pay a bit more per year myself than do that. thanks
it’s been replaced. simply upload your model to your trimble connect account and you can get a link from there.
I have used the viewer same as you. I now have the client use the free online version of Sketchup. Im happy with the way its working for me and my clients. You can also send a read only link to the file. I was never comfortable having the SKP file out there. You still have that option but via Trimble connect you can share the file easily. I can one button update the Trimble connect version of the file from a Sketchup session. You can also send a link from an online SU session. Ive found it more stream lined than using the old viewer.
