Has anyone had the scenario of having a current Sketchup Pro license with a recently purchased VRAY subscription and wanting to upgrade to Studio due to the Revit import feature? I was hoping to somehow save the cost of the recently purchased VRAY as it is included in Studio. It would be nice if there was a reduced cost to just add the revit importer.
I’ve tried customer service with a couple emails and have had no response. If any one has encountered this issue with some kind of a resolution it would be great to hear from you.
Where are you based? I use a reseller in the UK that seems to be able to negotiate with SketchUp for this kind of scenario, and come up with a quick sensible solution. If their details are likely to be of use to you I will send a PM.
Thank you so much for the reply. I am based in British Columbia, Canada. If you have had this resolved than any exchange you had to resolve it would be greatly appreciated
Nice to hear your boys have pride in their work. We built our business based on workmanship at the highest level as instilled by our father. Rendering with VRAY was fairly quick, quite an intuitive piece of software. What do you use Sketchup for?
You cannot just get the Revit Importer - you would need to upgrade fully to Studio.
If you purchased directly, you can upgrade in your Account Management Portal. Be advised it is windows only.
Your as-built photos are neater than the 3D models produced by the HVAC consultants in my projects. And then come the contractors who only look at the 2D drawings…
Thanks for your kind remarks! I am the installer so sketchup provides us a quick and efficient install as all is configured for the space allotted. It also helps us sell jobs as clients and architects find the renders a sign of a quality installer.
Thanks for your message. We can certainly help you with upgrading from Pro to Studio, you will get a pro-rated price for Studio depending on how many months you get left in a Pro subscription. You can also switch your V-RAY license from Chaos to Studio, I think this needs to be handled from Chaos sales side since you bought the license separately.
We would like to speak with your about your workflows since you use both V-Ray and the Revit Importer, I will message you to arrange a call.
Thank you Olivia, your help is much appreciated. Here is a sample of what I use sketchup for. I am a mechanical contractor and use sketchup along with 3SKENG and VRAY for final presentations to clients. This also allows us to plan our installations with great accuracy in the space provided.
