I had been using sketchup for very long time. After using sketchup 2016 without much issue, I have decided to make upgrade to 2017. To my horror, after installing, I discovered that the SU2017 crashed after startup. Below is the pop up error message.
“Sketchup Application has stopped working” A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program. -
->Close the program
→ Debug the program"
I am now using HP Probook 440 G1
Windows 7 Enterprise
4GB ram
Enough HDD to get by
Intel(R) HD Graphics 400
Visual c++ 2015 installed (latest)
OpenGL 4.0 v
Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6.1
I also try to run sketchup 2017 check. However, halfway it also crashed.
Someone from the SketchUp team would know better, but I think this is the driver for your graphics card and the crash is due to an error in its OpenGL support. Intel HD Graphics are notorious for this kind of problem. You might have success by updating to the latest driver.

You’ll find you need to update your driver to version 4061 or higher.
