SketchUp 2017 crashing at startup. Newbie help request

I just downloaded the 30 day trial. Download etc was fine. But I cannot get it started. I am not a techie, I just wanted to use the software as I am doing a garden design course and a bit tired of drawing by hand. This windows 8 cannot tell me what graphic card I have on my computer if that info is required I dont know where to find it.

Regards

Daniela

You have an Intel integrated HD graphics GPU built-into your CPU (together they are an APU.)

SketchUp is crashing when trying to start a OpenGL 3 context in the OpenGL library of your graphics driver suite.

The message tells us that the Faulty module is ig75icd64.dll, which is the OpenGL library.
The faulty version, 10.18.10.3412 is already known to have this bug that affects SketchUp, but also other applications.

You will need to find and install an updated graphics driver
that is version 10.18.10.4061 or higher.

Try first from your computer manufacturer’s support website.
Second directly from Intel.

This issue has been raised multiple times here in the forum.
Search on Intel HD graphics, etc.

Toshiba has no driver for me to download on their website. And no way to contact them either on their support website. Pretty poor show.

I then headed to the intel website and I got this:

“Intel provides generic versions of drivers for general purposes. Your computer manufacturer may have altered the features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to your driver. Intel recommends you contact your computer manufacturer for the latest system specific updates and technical support information.”

So I am going round in circles. I just cannot bother with all of this.

Where can I download Sketchup 2016? I read it does not have issues like 2017 version.

And where are the instructions to remove version 2017 successfully from computer?

It WAS there before, but took me 3 hours of downloading everything I could, and manually peeking into the installer packages with 7Zip to find it (this was several months ago.)

The site has been changed since, and I cannot find it there now, and as it’s 128MB I cannot post it here. (Yes, I still have the package. I always keep every installer package I install in an archive.)

I agree, the Toshiba Support site is all screwed up. For example, to get the Windows 8.1 64-bit driver package, one needs to set the OS choice to Win 10 64-bit. (Nothing shows up when Win 8.1 64-bit is chosen.)

Thank you Dan.

I have deinstalled the new Sketchup17 and installed version 16. And it looks like its working. I will try it out as it could help me with my studies a lot.

Thanks again! :kissing_heart:
