Sketchup not working on iPad

This has happened to me before, when using Apple Pencil – iPadOS takes over and assumes that since the pencil is not docked to your iPad, you want to hand-write into the text field using Apple Pencil Scribble.
If you have a pencil, and it’s not docked to the side of your iPad try docking your pencil and see if the keyboard then appears.

Thanks for the feedback Mike. Tried with pencil docked and not docked - same result. Also tried with VPN turned on and off - same result. In the end, I’ve turned my iPad off and back on and it’s now working.

Welp… score 1 for the 'ol “turn it off and then back on again” manuever.

I don’t use vpns or anything like this and I am having the same problem I can access my account but I can’t make anything new I deleted the app and re downloaded the app logged back in and same thing happened. How do I get into contact with you guys? Can’t believe you guys don’t have no customer service I am lost on what to do

I am having a similar problem. I purchased the app for a new iPad in February. I tried using again now and it made me log in, and I can see my previous designs but it is only allowing me to use the free viewer. When I click the option for purchasing the app it recognizes that I have already paid for the yearly subscription. I have logged in and out a few times. This is maddening

I have iPhone Pro 14 and iPad Pro (11inch, 4th gen). On both I experience same issues. I open project (650mb) and it crashes after a short while. Without any error. Simply goes to main screen of the phone/ipad. Is this sth that can be fixed or I cannot use my devices for some projects?

What method of signing in do you use?
It might be that the ‘hide my email’ option was used and then, depending from what provider you bought that subscription (eg. Via the Apple store or via SketchUp.com) that your projects are redirected to a private_relay address.

Where did you bought it ?
(ps. a Studio subscription, as stated in your profile, cannot be bought via the Apple Store)

Standard login. I dont believe login method has anything to do with these crashes :frowning: I’ve downloaded project to Files so it’s local

This thread (although the title is ‘iPad not working’) has become a place where issues are mixed up.

I was asking the the poster above yours.

Your problem is probably related to the excessive size of the model tou are trying to load.

For those of you who are reporting issues regarding issues related to entitlements, specifically, that you’ve paid for a subscription, but after signing into (or back into) the app, you’re being shown an upsell screen when trying to create a new model, or are seeing view-only features when opening existing models – it’s 99.9999% likely that the root cause is that you’ve signed into the app using a different Trimble Account than the one that you were signed in with when you purchased your subscription.

Please note that Trimble accounts are ID-specific. This means that when you sign in using either of the different authentication paths that are offered (Trimble ID, Google ID, Apple ID, and MSFT ID) it’s possible that you can end up creating multiple accounts, that are associated with different email addresses, and/or ID services.

Trimble Connect also requires that you sign in with the same Account/ID in order to view any files that you have stored there. For those of you who have noted that recent files (especially those that you’ve saved to Connect) are not showing up when you sign in, that’s another good clue that you may have inadvertently signed in with the wrong account.

The files that I previously created are all still there. It is my account. I sign in using the same ID that is stored in the system and nothing else. The fact that it recognizes that I already have an account paid through to next February should be another sign that I am logged into the account I used to start my subscription (always logged in through Apple ID)

Yes and no.
To further complicate matters, the Apple App Store does not care about the Trimble Account you use to sign in to the SketchUp for iPad app. And the SketchUp for iPad app does not care about the account you’re signed into the Apple App Store with.
Fortunately, the Apple App Store recognizes that the account you’re signed into the Store with has already purchased a subscription, preventing you from buying another one inadvertently.
However, the SketchUp for iPad app needs to ensure that it provides the appropriate access based on the information that is stored in Trimble’s entitlement service, and which is associated with the Trimble Account that you were signed in with when you purchased your subscription.

It was the Apple account. I did not have a Trimble account before purchasing the sketch up app for this iPad in February. This I pad is used for taking notes and this sketch up… that is it. The one password saved in the iPad is for that account

If you used the apple “hide my email” when you signed in originally or when you try to sign in now - it will send Trimble randomised email addresses which become your Trimble account. You have to be constant with this or you will not actually sign in correctly. You could be signing in with either a randomised email or your actual email.

There is documentation from Apple here

Create and manage Hide My Email addresses in Settings on iPhone – Apple Support (UK).

From the sounds of it Apple knows you have a subscription - however when you sign in, SketchUp does not , perhaps due to the above.

If you visit myaccount.Trimble.com and Sign in with Apple (make sure to use the right share option here) , what do you see in the plan settings?

Yeah, it is definitely the secret Apple email log in. If this is the case though, and Trimble does not recognize the apple email and the email changes every time then how do I ever log in. I know what email account I am currently logged in with. If I turn the Apple secret email off it doesn’t sound like it will solve the problem since the account in Trimble is not affiliated with the actual apple account

It shouldn’t change every time, it will have created that mystery one the first time.

fFrom the sounds You would need to use the “sign in with apple” option everywhere in relation to Trimble things.

If you tap on the avatar icon in the top right, it will show you the email address of the currently signed in account.
Do you see the secret one or your “normal” one?

It is the secret one. Everything is affiliated with the secret email

I’ve had a look at my own Apple ID etc and I’m in a different boat as I’ve already linked everything I have up correctly and I don’t want to suggest anything to you that might break things altogether,
You might want to drop support an message, they might know what is the best way to straighten it up - although I’m not sure how much of this sits on Apple’s side.

Edit

You could try this if you do want to try and tidy it up, it worked for me

Sign into myprofile.trimble.com using the Apple option

You’ll see the email attached to your AppleID with trimble.

Copy that.

Sign out

Sign back into myprofile.trimble.com using the username and password option , but use the email you just saw.

If you don’t know the password, reset it

Once you’ve signed in, you can change the email address here.
This will stop the secret one being used.
Signing in via apple via a specific email address will now match.
