Yes these videos are helpful! I am not seeing where I can input a dimension tho. Is that something I can do to get precise? I also need to design a footer that will be below grade 2’. I guess if I build flat I can use the push pull to get the dimensions?
Enter dimensions in the Measurements window. DO NOT CLICK IN THE WINDOW. Start whatever tool you are using, let go of the mouse, type the value.
Yes, I saw that…but it doesn’t appear to let me input a new dimension other than the one it detects. I did see on the square one that the line would actually have a place to input length. I’m still watching the videos so not able to try out yet.
Are you clicking on the window before trying to enter the dimension?
I think so…
Did you see what I wrote starting in bold caps?
Watch the cursor in the following. At no time does the cursor go to the Measurements window. Just let go of the mouse and type.
Ok this is what I did…I started a line…got close to my measurement…hit esc….went to the dimension box to put input number for the seleted line. Is that not a thing? I also was able to override the number in the box and put in the right measurement, but it defaulted back.
WTH would you hit Esc!? Where did you come up with the idea to press Esc after you started drawing the line? How about doing what I directed and showed you to do? For the third time, Start drawing the line in the direction you want it to go. Let go of the mouse. Type the desired distance. Press Enter.
Don’t touch Esc. Don’t move the cursor into the Measurements window. Don’t click in the Measurements window. Just type the length of the line.
Please don’t curse at me. I learned that FROM THE VIDEO YOU HAD ME WATCH. Where in the world else would I have gotten it from?
No. You did not learn to press Esc or click in the measurements window before entering a dimension.
I’m going to quit now since you won’t follow the instructions I’ve given you multiple times. Good luck.
BTW….I didn’t click in the window…I selected the line however as there was nothing to indicate the length of the line. I was unable to input any new numbers and never clicked on it.
As Dave said - start to draw a line, then input a length, then press enter. You don’t need to select the line
You cannot select a random line and enter a new length for that. Nobody told you that…
When you draw a line you can enter a precise lenght and hit enter to make it that length.
We were talking about hitting esc to end the line. LOVE THAT HACK! The other seemed just an intuitive thing to select a line and have the dimension show up. …no biggie…don’t get your panties in a twist over it.
Am I able to input length AND width…say of a wall? I’d like to say 32’x10"…can I do that?
I use a PC so I can draw a rectangle then type 32’,12" and press enter. Not sure if you use the “,” on a mac or something else.
Yeah, that might make a difference. I wasn’t able to input the dimensions until I laid my laptop on a flat surface. Didnt’ hear press “enter” either, so thanx for that. Is there a way to put a circle area on the surface I can use the push/pull to make mounds? I really need to do that first, and hopefully will let me build over it all. I need to get below the baseline for the footer too.
If you project a circle onto an uneven surface (which I think is what you’re describing) you wont be able to use push/pull on it. If I were you I would check out some basic instructional videos on YouTube and then take it from there.
Yes, you can put circles on another face.
A surface is something else though. The side of a cilinder is a surface that is made up of multiple faces. The lines between those faces are softened and smoothed and thus not visible.
Yes, I’ve watched a few, but they all had sandbox tool. Bummer this doesn’t have it…may not be able to do it. Wonder if I can do some free style lines and just modulate the heights and such? I think I saw that too…Does this have a free hand mode? I think I’ve only seen straight line
