Hello,

I am using the free trial of SketchUp 2026 before buying it on a Mac Pro and I am experiencing a critical issue that is blocking my work.

SketchUp crashes immediately in the following situations:

  • as soon as I draw a line in any file (even a completely new empty file)

  • sometimes immediately when opening certain files

  • the application becomes unusable because it crashes instantly when performing any drawing action

:desktop_computer: System configuration:

  • Mac Pro: that I bought 3 days ago with M5 and 32Go

  • macOS: tahoe26.2

  • SketchUp: 2026

i have already

  • disabled all extensions

  • reset SketchUp user preferences

  • tested on new empty files

  • restarted the system

  • checked general system performance

The issue persists despite all these steps.

I am currently unable to use SketchUp for professional work as it becomes unusable immediately when drawing.

Could you please help identify the cause of this crash (possibly related to the graphics engine / Metal or macOS compatibility) and provide a fix or workaround?

Have you tried the Classic OpenGL graphics engine?
You can switch to it in Preferences > Graphics

I can’t because as soon as I open my file it crashes
