Hi all!
6.2.1 Release should be making its way to the App Store near you as I type this.
Release notes updated above
(…including fixes for the toolbar bug that you reported @RogerRoger and the ACAD file format options issue that you pointed out @Gjenio. Thanks for the feedback!!! )
@makemt That probably means that you have already updated to the latest version. You likely have your App Store preferences configured to automatically update to the latest version.
I’m having trouble ‘customizing’ the new radial toolbar. I have a new 6th Gen iPad Pro and the options to “sprout” the radial toolbar work, but I don’t see anything to help me grasp how to create or use the fully populated version that appears in the new release document. What am I missing?
SketchUp for iPad v6.3.1 (2010) went live earlier today (see above for the full release notes).
This update was filled with dozens of bug fixes and improvements that ended up in our queue because of all the great feedback that you all have been so graciously and diligently sharing with us via emails and forum posts. Thank you for your continued support and please keep the feedback coming!!!
v6.4.0 (2033) was released a few minutes ago and is on its way out to an App Store near you.
Release notes are updated above. We’ve got some new goodies in this one that we’re looking forward to getting feedback about.
More info about SketchUp Diffusion can be found on the Help Center, and since it’s available across iPad, Web and Desktop, we’ve also set up a separate forum space for discussions.
As of this update Sketchup for iPad crashes on launch every time. I see a split-second of spash screen, then it’s gone. Same results after power-cycling.
12.9" iPad Pro (5th Gen)
iPadOS 15.6.1
EDIT: I’ve updated the iPad to the latest version of iPadOS 17.x.x, and the app now launches. Sorry for the alarm.
Hi Eric, I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with this latest update.
I noticed in your post that you’re using iPadOS 15 (thanks for sharing that info).
If you’re able to update the OS to v16 or v17, my hope is that would resolve the issue.
If not, please let us know.
Yes. Especially when it’s already on iOS 17.1.2. I typically read reviews on any major .0 release, wait, look and wait for a minor fix or a major feature I want. If for nothing else, it’s good for general security of iOS. And in general, macOS/iOS users keep up to date more so than Windows users.
Now that apple is being forced to have third party stores, could be it possible to make an extension warehouse for the iPad version? That could be a game changer imho.
That would be great, but that’s a bit of an oversimplification of what’s been reported to be in flux. More aspects of Apple’s policies would need to change, and I haven’t seen any news about some of the other important bits. Happy to chat about the details here if you want: Plugins available for Ipad IOS?
I’m going to ask here so I don’t need to make an entire thread about asking about this but maybe 1.5 years ago, when SKP for Ipad was relatively new, I tested the ipad version and found it to be exceptionally unstable to the point that I was afraid to have clients try and use it with my models for presentations on anything more than a small simple model (say only usable if model was less than 50Mb). I created a thread here and both colin and other SKP crew simply said it was what it was without any forward guidance or how to stabilize or use it professionally without any instruction or ability to make it not crash repeatedly (short of maybe buying the best Ipad available which still was a bandaid not a solution).
Has this changed?
Is the ipad version now stable or still unstable or same for say models in the 50 - 200 (or more) range?
The use case for me is simply presentation mode and potentially markup notes on scenes of models typically in the 100-300Mb range (houses, architecture and interior design).
For small models, I’ve completely sold clients (interior designers working with their own clients - the customer) on it’s value for presenting demos. On larger, it’s a major gamble and a presentation (and reputation) killer which can hurt my clients (as I’ve been told by different clients than above).
