Hi, I am using SketchUp for garden design and I’m ready to import files to start work but when I try to select all files are greyed out and not selectable. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you
Could you share a screenshot of what you are seeing?
Sure, thank you. You can see from the screenshot that none of my files are available for import. All sorts of files: png, jpeg, affinity files, pdf, tiff… nothing
Silly question, but are you using the ‘import’ button, and not the ‘open’ one? If you’re using ‘open’ then it’s normal everything is grayed, because it would be expecting you to open a .skp model, and not a png or jpeg or anything else. But if you’re using the ‘import’ then it should be okay…
The grayed out files appear to not be 3D models that can be imported.
Also as AEG says you may be looking for the Open functionality inside the Home screen, not Import.
@nikki It sounds like you are wanting to import image files. It also sounds like you’ve tapped the “Import” button in the top left corner of the screen (alongside Redo).
I think the button you’re looking for, though, is this one:
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed. I’m sorted now
Awesome! Glad to hear.
Note too, that the app supports drag-n-drop of images from other apps (like the Photos app) while multi-tasking in split-screen and/or picture-in-picture.
For example, here I’m showing the Photos app picture-in-picture.
If you drag an image and drop it onto a face, the image will automatically be imported and applied as an image texture.
If you drag an image and drop it onto a group/component, or drop it out in empty space, the image will be imported as an image object.
