I have installed SketchUp and installation was successful but the moment I try to open Sketch or SketchUp layout or SketchUp builder, I am getting an error message “SketchUp has stopped working:”. I have no other options but to close the application. Please suggest what could the error and how to correct it. Thanks
There is a chance that the problem is due to inadequate OpenGL support in the drivers for your graphics (Intel integrated HD graphics are notorious for this). As a first step, you should try making sure you have your computer vendor’s latest update to the graphics driver. Did you run the checkup program before installing SU to test for compatibility?
When you installed SketchUp did you right-click the installer exe and select “Run as Administrator” (which is NOT the same as being logged on as an administrator)? Installing without that privilege elevation can cause runtime errors in SketchUp.
Thanks for your reply. Please find the answers to the questions you have asked…
Did you run the checkup program before installing SU to test for compatibility? No I didn’t. I will explore now the option to check the compatibility
When you installed SketchUp did you right-click the installer exe and select “Run as Administrator” Yes tried that as well but no success.
For Windows to trap the problem instead of SU generating a BugSplat, whatever the problem is occurs early in the startup before SU has had a chance to initialize its own error traps. Presumably Windows wrote a log message somewhere explaining what went wrong. I’m a Mac user, so I can’t help with that, but maybe a Windows guru will chime in.
Thanks again. I have also checked the checkup for compatibility but same error.
I am exploring the windows log the files. Lets see if I can find answer. Thanks for help though.
I have uninstalled 2017 and instead installed 2015. It works fine without any windows error.
