SketchUp Bugsplat on exit with RTX 5070

SketchUp 2026 BugSplat on Exit (RTX 5070 System)

UPDATE

:+1: Bottom line

  • Your PC is solid

  • Your GPU is working correctly

  • SketchUp is using the newest rendering path (DX12)

  • Crash happens during cleanup, not use

:backhand_index_pointing_right: That’s a software compatibility issue

I’m experiencing a consistent BugSplat crash when closing SketchUp 2026 on a new system. The crash only occurs on exit. SketchUp otherwise runs normally.

System:

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 265F

  • RAM: 32 GB

  • Drivers tested: latest NVIDIA Game Ready and Studio (clean install)

Behavior:

  • SketchUp opens and runs fine

  • Modeling, orbiting, and saving all work normally

  • Files save successfully

  • Crash occurs only when exiting SketchUp

  • Happens even with a brand new blank model (simple box test)

  • Layout closes normally with no issues

  • No system-wide instability or graphical glitches outside SketchUp

Graphics Settings:

  • Using Classic Graphics Engine

  • OpenGL 4.6 (NVIDIA 595.79)

  • No user-installed plugins (only default SketchUp extensions)

Logs:

  • GPU initializes correctly (RTX 5070 detected, shaders compile successfully)

  • No errors during startup or rendering

  • BugSplat logs show an unhandled exception during shutdown and successful crash report submission (minidump generated)

Summary:
This appears to be a SketchUp 2026 crash occurring during the shutdown/cleanup phase rather than during modeling or rendering. Given that everything else functions normally, it may be related to compatibility between SketchUp 2026 and newer RTX 50-series GPUs or current NVIDIA drivers.

Have you sent in the Bugsplats with your email address? If so @colin can look them up.

We have fixed some cases where a crash would happen while SketchUp was closing. If you are already on 2026.1.2, then there may be more fixes in the next update we do. I can’t yet say when that will appear.
