Sketchup 24 crashes on Mac OS 15.3

Today this problem started:
I can open up sketchup and open a (new or existing) file, but once i start drawing or moving around, it immediatley crashes.
Interesstingly, yesterday it worked fine. I did not update since yesterday, so I dont understand whats diofferent today.

I am using a Mac Mini M4 Pro with the newest Mac OS 15.3. and the newsest Sketchup Version 24.0.598

Please don’t double post.

Thanks, @Anssi. We’ll respond here, since @Mrainm crash stacks (I found them) are not related. This is a new crash on Mac in the latest version. We’ll figure out what’s going on and report back.

I have an M4 Mac mini on 15.3 as well, and not seeing problems in 24.0.598. I do see that there is a later 15.3 system update for me, so I am trying that one as well.

@Mrainm is it ALL files, or just a particular file? (I think I know the answer but it’s worth asking). If it’s only a certain file, can you share a file that’s causing the crash?

My Mac mini is still ok with the latest 15.3.

There is a crash that can happen when using the Freehand tool, that we have fixed in the next update you should see (I can’t give a date for that yet). It may be that your models have that particular issue.

Hi, it is indeed all files. I am able to use some tools without crashing (Hand tool, Orbit, Camera, Erease, mirror, and possibly some others) but everytime I use a drawing tool, it crashes on the second point I draw.

If I remember correctly, the one thing that I did before it started to crash on me, was to update the “add location” extension as sketchup suggested.
(But I am not entirely sure if the crashes started immediatly after… )

If you do not geolocate your models, you can switch off this extension in the Extension Manager, then restart SketchUp.

Have you tried the other graphics engine from the one that crashes?
See the setting in the Graphics panel of the Preferences dialog.
On Mac, it is required to open the model again (or a new model window) to use the change in graphics engine. (On MS Windows we must restart the application.)

This has done the trick. I switched back to the classic graphics engine and now it runs stable again. Thank you!
