SketchUp 2026 and 2027 - Scale with measure tool not working

Recently upgraded to SU2027 from SU2025. I’ve noticed that I can no longer scale with the Measure tool, but it still works fine in SU2025. Out of interest, I checked in SU2026 (which I had installed but never made the move from 2025), and the same issue - it doesn’t work.

Did I miss a change in the process, and am I simply doing it wrong??

I’ve tried several variations, measuring between edges, points, and using guides on an image - nothing works in 2026 or 2027.

I’m on PC, Win10. Any thoughts?

Did you read what it says in the status bar? I tested it in SU 2027 and it works.

I am on Win 11 which is supported.

The first time I tried it worked and I could do scaling by cycling through with CTRL until the status text mentioned scaling the model. (I had to enter a value and confirm with the “Do you want to scale the model?” messagebox that popped up.

The 2nd time I tried I cannot get the tool to go into scale mode. So …

I read this: https://help.sketchup.com/en/measuring-distance, which says at the bottom …

When you enter a value in the measurements box after measuring an entity, SketchUp asks whether you want to resize your model.

.,. and tried again and yes it works if in measure mode (2 clicks of CTRL,) an arbtrary measure and then typing a value and confirming.

Hi Dan, thanks for that - so it looks like I did miss the change in the procedure; it changed after 2025, when I only needed to hit Ctrl once. Thinking that I knew how to do it, I never thought to read the dialogue in the lower-left corner. I did this time, and sure enough, 2 Ctrl presses and it worked.

It’s always the simple stuff…

Cheers.
