When opening my empty template file, sketchup opens normally. When I try to open any of my projects it starts opening then crashes (bug Splat). If I open from my template file the skb file it opens, but the skp file also crashes. I tried to remove all extensions but the same continues to happen.
This is in SketchUp 2019?
Share the .skp file so we can see what you’ve got going on and have some hope of helping you.
Have you sent in the Bug Splat reports with your name and email addess attached?
I see all of your bugsplats, thanks for sending them in, and with the descriptions you gave.
Can I try one of the old SKPs that lead to a crash, along with its SKB that works? It can be the smallest model that shows the problem.
There is another person seeing the same crash you are getting. For them, running the display at 2560x1440 doesn’t show a crash. If you’re on 4k, can you try the lower resolution, and see if the SKPs then work?
This is in sketchup 2025 pro. I have sent the report more than once and got no reply.
Please update your forum profile. It says you’re using SketchUp 2019. Did you install SketchUp 2025 correctly? On Windows that requires right clicking on the downloaded installer and selecting Run as administrator.

i am a new user. How do I share the file?
If it’s smaller than 16 Mb drag the .skp file into a reply here. If it’s larger, upload it to DropBox or We Transfer and share the link.
Could you enable access for that link?
I have enabled access

Your file isn’t crashing on my computer. I did go through it and do my usual cleanup procedure. That started by fixing the incorrect tag usage. ALL edges and faces should be created and remain untagged.
Then I purged unused content. You’re hoarding a lot of components and materials.
I also reduced the excessively large textures in the file.
That knocked 73% off the file size. I expect if you do that your file will be have better on your computer.
I understand, but in sketchup 2024 it never happened. All my projects even much bigger ones, never showed this problem.
As I wrote, your file isn’t crashing on my computer. That and Colin’s comment about the other user having this same crash eliminating it by changing the display resolution implies the issue is related to your hardware settings.
Ok. I thougt it was about this, because when I disable the new graphic mechanism it opens normally. But again, with exactly the same settings, this didn’t happen in sketchup 2024. Changes should be for better…
The graphics engine changed between SketchUP 2024 and 2025 to support the new graphics features.
You could try updating the graphics drivers and do a cold reboot of the computer to see if that helps.
FWIW, your model has been open on my machine all night and it is still working fine. This is with SketchUp 2025 and the new graphics engine.
Thanks for that comment. With 2024 it may be that SketchUp had previously switched to the classic graphics engine. You could check to see if that’s the case.
I do have SketchUp 2025 running on a laptop, connected to a 4k monitor, using the new graphics engine, and still your model opens ok. The laptop has an RTX 3000A GPU, so maybe that is different.
I will check to see if there are any Nvidia updates I can try.
Thank you very much for your kind explanations. I try to keep my rtx 4070 drivers always updated.
have you ced to see for sure that The RTX4070 is the GPU setup to display SketchUp?
FWIW, I still have your file open and it still hasn’t crashed on my system.
We did just release a new patch, 2025.0.3 (released on 5/03). Have you installed the very latest version? There was a fix that helped mitigate some of these crashes related to larger files in 2025 so it would be worth updating if you haven’t yet done so to see if that solves the crash.
My sketchup version says 25.0.660 and that this is the latest version available.
