Sketchup 2024 Orbit and pan function will not work

Has anyone had the issue with Sketchup 2024 that all of a sudden orbit and pan function do not work? Was working on some drawings and those functions stopped. It is not a large drawing. I restated CPU as well as loaded another file to see if the function would work and it did not. I have checked settings and all looks ok. Any ideas or fixes would be appreciated!

Well, SketchUp 2024 didn’t change so what did? You could share your .skp file so we can see if it’s something model-specific. How are you activating Orbit and Pan? Using the center mouse button? What kind of mouse? Low battery in mouse? Button assignment changed? Center mouse button switch failure?

BTW, please update your forum profile. It says you are using SketchUp 2023. Please also include the graphics card model.

Thanks, Dave, for the suggestions I am using a Logi Tech wheeled mouse just changed the battery still doesn’t respond. I checked it in another CAD program, and it works there (Fusion360). The graphics card is a NVIDIA Quadro P4000. Not button changes or anything like that. How would I share the file am working with?

Put that in your forum profile. “NVIDI” doesn’t make any sense. Also put in the version of Windows that you are using instead of “pc”.

If it’s less than 16 Mb, drag the .skp into a reply. Otherwise upload it to DropBox or We Transfer and share the link.

Dave again I would like to thank you for participating and taking the time to help me with this issue. I ended up having to stop work and move on to other things through my day and I’m just getting back to it this morning. Funny, the only thing I did was change out the battery in my mouse and when I opened up the program to start again to check my mouse settings everything was working fine. And the odd thing about it was that I had checked after I changed the battery and was still having the same issue. I will have to keep an eye on things in the future as I still do not know what caused the issue, the only other thing that I did do was shut my computer down completely and restart this morning that may have done it. Even though i had done that yesterday while working the problem.
Also I’m not sure about what you mean about NVIDIA that is the manufacturer or I thought was the manufacturer of the graphics card that I’m using the model I believe is the Quadro P4000 however I’m not very well versed in all of this computer stuff and can barely keep up with the many different programs that I use to get through my work day.
Again though I would like to thank you very much for your participation as I for whatever reasons didn’t even think of the mouse being the issue as it has done so much work for me over the years that I’ve had it without fail. I guess being so lost in the drawings and other things that I completely forgot to check the most simplest so again thank you for reminding me.
And yes I will try to get a little more information on my system in my profile for future use.

It’s entirely possible that did fix it.

My point is that your profile shows this:

It should show “NVIDIA Quadro P4000”. We can infer from what you put in your profile that you just forgot the A on the end of NVIDIA but they make and have made a lot of different graphics card models. The model number can be useful in diagnosing issues.

Mice tend to be very dependable devices and sometimes it’s not an obvious place to start with troubleshooting. The basics of troubleshooting anything are to first look at what changed since it last worked. In this we know SketchUp 2024 hasn’t changed in months so we rule that out as a likely cause. Take the low hanging fruit next. Since the issue is mouse/user input-related the next things to look at are button assignments for the mouse and then, presuming they are correct, changing the batteries is a logical step. Batteries last so long in wireless mice these days that it’s almost easy to forget they have batteries. If you hadn’t reported that you’ve shut down and restarted the computer that would have been the next suggestion. And if that had failed, I would have suggested trying a different mouse to see if that worked.

Good luck moving forward.
