SketchUp 2023 - suddenly stopped working

Hi to everyone,
Since day before yesterday i have a problem that I am not able to resolve.
I was working normally but when doing the last render my sky and pool water was presenting all black. Before that render everything was perfect. i did an update of vray and after that I couldn’t open Sketchup anymore.
The window is all white with the “not responding” message in the left up corner, and i have tried a few files.
I uninstalled and installed several times, even the 2024 version and the problem is still there.
I have uninstalled vray and I didn’t installed it yet.
I found as a possible problem to be the graphic card that I have checked and it has been updated.
I have checked also the hardware acceleration and it’s enabled.

Same problem with the laptop. Here it doesn’t even try to open the file but immediately pop out the message window.

Attached you can find the devices specifications and the messages from the pop up windows.

All the help is really appreciated,

Have you restarted the computer?
Can SketchUp open any file?
Can you upload the file that caused the incident to the forum or upload it to a file sharing service?

When you installed SketchUp, did you do so correctly? That requires right clicking on the downloaded installer and selecting Run as administrator. Do that now and choose the Repair option. Then do a cold reboot of your computer.

Hello Dave,

Thank you for the response.
Yes, I did it more than couple of times.
It’s not opening any file. Just white window with the message “not responding”.
It happened suddenly; I was working without any problems.
And the most confusing thing is that there is a problem also with the SketchUp on the laptop and I didn’t use it the last few weeks.
I think that the installation was done correctly but I will uninstall and do it again

Dohvati Outlook za iOS

I have installed the program again through the run as administrator and now there is no window (previous was the white window with the not responding) or pop up windows with errors

I am not sure what do you mean with the repair part?

When you right click on the installer (in your Downloads folder) and choose Run as administrator, you should be asked whether you want to uninstall SketchUp or repair it. Choose Repair.

I didn’t have that option
The initial window for sign in just appeared and is the same thing again

Are you right clicking on the installer file you downloaded from sketchup.com or on the exe for SketchUp itself?

From the download folder

You should see something like this after right clicking on the installer and selecting Run as administrator.

I don’t know if it’s relevant but It’s opening the style builder and the layout

Evidently you are not following what I instructed or your computer is really screwed up.

I think you should take your computer to a computer shop and ask them to help you sort out the operating system and get SketchUp installed properly.

I just found it

It’s done, I will restart and try :crossed_fingers:

As I wrote: do a COLD REBOOT of the computer. That means power completely off before turning it on again.

That’s the worst thing, the computer is new and it’s supposed to be a really god one.
Everything was functioning perfectly until two days ago. It happened out of nowhere, I just did the vray update and after that I wasn’t able to open the program anymore

Sorry, I missed that part :woman_facepalming:t3:

That might be but it doesn’t mean you couldn’t have installed something incorrectly. I’d guess the graphics and other drivers aren’t up to date.

Did you update Vray by right clicking on the installer and choosing Run as administrator?

No, but I don’t remember that I did it before in that way
Right now vray is completely uninstalled.

The confusion is that I have a similar problem with the laptop.

Same thing again

Opened a new file but it’s still “not responding”

Can you please check the pdf on the first post, maybe I am not looking in the right place for graphic drivers
