Sketchup 2023 Pro issues and flaws

Probably because it was not an issue with SU pro 2023.

Also, I looked back and yes there are a couple posts by employees. Not sure where Sturnus was going with the folks that won’t say a bad thing about SU? Some people do not experience the issues they have I guess?

At least the thread was kind of a laugh fest. So, there’s that.

and in a few days, you’ll ask “why are my posts deleted?”

flood. pure flood. I mean, Sturnus is angry as sketchup, it has been pretty clear for weeks now, he has a problem with sketchup. and Saul floods. you post a lot of one-liners about what passes in your head.

This post today is about that. One man angry posting, another joking, and a third trying to herd cats.

I’ll quote the poet on that one.

You have chosen to comment frequently of late, how correct your comments have been is not something we have control over.

Again Sturnus, maybe start your own thread. This issue you are raising is neither an issue or a flaw with SU Pro 2023. It is how Windows installs a program with or without Admin rights. Some programs allow you to install without, some don’t. It’s best to install with. Many programs out there allow and will not function correctly without admin rights.

I assume you are adding this to the feature request thread?

Okay, I’ll leave the commenting to those who know they are never wrong. Enjoy!

Most threads after they hit a certain point remind me of Monty Python.

No, they don’t.

:grinning:

Just quietly, dragging up the same old jokes to counter an argument might work well with someone in their 30s but you need to understand that we were around before the Knights who say Ni and can manually calculate the flying characteristics of a swallow, beit African or European with or without a coconut. Flying cow anyone?

That’s great kid, but I took the night off work to watch Armstrong walk on the Moon. So…

No worries Buzz

You seem to have strong feelings about this.

My son-in-law is in mechanical engineering, The software they are using is one of the big buck ones. It will crash without warning and kiss your work goodbye.

Then why is the question asked here for the millionth time:

They were asked by someone from the Sketchup team
I wrote that finally Trimble could do something about it, because the solution is child’s play. Can you really not understand this? Unless you like asking this question. Such a bit kick.

I am angry? Did I write it?

It’s the angry people who use invective. When the arguments run out, the fisticuffs begin.

Can you explain it? What kind of problem?

No it does not. If a non-admin user starts the installer, a dialog asking for an admin user name and password pops up. If you are logged in via an admin account, it does not. But it seems that all security packages are not satisfied with the latter case and the install remains uncomplete unless the right-click>run as administrator method is used. I have never had problems installing normally when logged in as admin.

Once again…run as administrator is not a SketchUp Pro 2023 issue. The fact that people have to be told this in a SU user forum is due to varying knowledge level people have with Windows. Don’t believe me…go to the Autodesk forums and search.

The fact that people are now complaining about this just proves the point that some people come here simply for the sake of complaining about anything and everything.

I’m done hearding cats…I’m out!

Thanks - Whenever i do that though, it doesn’t show Sketchup as an application like it does in your video… it just says “SketchUp.exe” and won’t actually open SU

Do you have SketchUp in your start menu?

yes I do, and it goes to exactly the same location as i’m going in that video…!

That looks like the kind of thing that the “reset windows” option was designed for. I bet you could spend ages trying to get to the bottom of what has gone wrong.
