Sketchup 2023 Orbit tool

Hi All,

So I havent used SU since getting the 24 version until now. It seems thats things have changed. The orbit tool is now not working as it did. I cannot rotate around the model as before, I have to press the option key to rotate around the model. Is there anyway to have things as they were, this is really irritating… or have I missed something? TIA!

What version of SketchUp are you referring to? SketchUp Pro 2024 hasn’t been released yet. Your profile is confusing, too. It shows SketchUp Pro and SketchUp Free 2021. There is no free version of 2021. Really what version of SketchUp are you using?

The Orbit tool works fine for me in SketchUp 2023 and in SketchUp Go.

How are you activating the Orbit tool? What kind of mouse are you using?

What version of Mac OS are you using?

OK, I seem to have 3 accounts which is weird.

Mouse is MX master 3 for MAC.

Have you ensured the drivers for the MX Master are up to date for the Mac OS version?

There have been other reports of issues with the incorrect assignment of the “Middle Mouse Button” which is used to activate Orbit. Make sure the mouse driver software is up to date and that the button assignment is correct.

On the Trimble Account page. I think every time I’ve renewed my licence each year (from different retailers) I get a new profile? I’n not sure how all this works so apologies if this seems a little basic.

The latest sketchup 23 I have installed seems like a totally new version to the one before. I’ll check re the mouse.

Those have nothing to do with your forum profile. Fix your forum profile by clicking on the M in the tan circle at the top right corner of the forum page. Then click on the person icon followed by Preferences>Profile. Edit your profile and then click on Save at the bottom of the page.

Did you purchase your subscription through a Reseller? If so you should contact them to sort things out. It looks like you’ve added yourself a bunch of times to the same account.

Is it possible you have you model incorrectly orientated, is the solid Blue going up?

Thats the problem yes I just realised somehow its been reversed and runs down. Whats the quickest way to reset this to the default setup? Thanks

Right click on an axis line and choose Reset. Then rotate (not Orbit) the model if needed so it is right side up.

For your interest, each time you use a different set of details when getting something from Trimble, it may well be set up as a new account. As an example, in MAKE: you have an address that includes “london, ENG, GB”, and the all-caps variation has “LONDON, GB”. I’m not sure if it’s possible, but it may be worth asking customer service if the two could be combined. For now you are ok, you found your subscription in the all-caps version.
