Sketchucation plugin

I run SU 2017 make. I get the msg to install new version of sketchucation, download the rbz file and install it. It installs rbe files, so it wont open in SU. Does this plugin no longer work with 2017? How do i install this so it creates rb files?

SketchUp 2017 is old and uses a web browser that hasn’t been supported for a long time so the extension probably won’t work correctly.

It’s not that it’s installing .rbe files.

Just download the desired extensions directly and use the Install Extension feature to install them. Keep in mind that paid extensions that require the Sketchucation Extension Store tool like those by Fredo6 likely won’t work for you.

See the comment another 2017 Make user by Rich O’Brien from three days ago here.

You will want to the check with the developer of the extension and see first if they have maintained backward compatibility to SU 2017.

It’s only recommended for >v2017 and newer [that is almost a decade old]. So a tail-end v2017 might just work, but the earlier versions are known to be flaky. If you can’t get/install a later version of v2017, and you really need the previous SCF non-HTML-dialog version, then ask Rich at SketchUcation and he might email you an RBZ to overwrite the installed newer version. It will be missing many improvements and newest licensing tools etc, but it might be as good as it gets…

PS: Why didn’t you post about this over at SketchUcation ? where you’d be much more likely to catch the eye of someone important…

I understand OLD, but so am I, and it serves my use and is resident on my computers. I just tried going to the warehouse and got the popup to update su because web services are disabled on this version. So, i guess that is the answer. Since this is my DT and is always connected to the inet, I guess I can try the web version. Thanks

The warehouses haven’t support SketchUp 2017 for almost six years. You can get and install extensions from the Extension Warehouse via your web browser and use the Install Extension feature.

The web version may suit your needs but it can’t use any extensions.
