F…ing CAPTCHA
Recently, when I have to log into Sketchup (or something related to it) - which happens often - a picture puzzle (actually two) pops up. I’m human, I don’t spam, I just have to use several versions because my hobby is to try to help others and write code for my own amusement, sometimes for others.
Does anyone have an idea why the fucking CAPTCHA comes up and how to get rid of it?
(Chrome 129.0.6668.71 ) -
How many Sketchup’s can run and why depends on the moon state or whatever?
To the best of my knowledge, the license allows 2 instances of Sketchup to run at the same time. How is it possible that I was able to log in to the 2021, 2022, 2023 versions as well? (I can’t use the SU2024 - only at great pain-, but that belongs on a different storie…)
And other times I get into the carousel of logging out and logging in of all installed versions, go to the My Product page and deauthorize all devices… 3-4 times until I get it right. Why? -
Speaking of Deauthorization
What do you expect when you a click on your Trimble Account>>[Select your correct account] >>View Included Applications>> Look for SketchUp Pro>>“Manage Devices”? Sure you can manage devices. But not, what you can see:
Confirm Deauthorization:
Are you sure you want to reset all of your authorized devices for SketchUp Pro?
NOOOO. I want to manage my devices, I expect to see my devices and on which device which version and how many of the Sketchup I’m signed in.
Why do you call “Confirm Deauthorization” as “Manage Devices”? Makes no sense to me… Currently it is nothing more just a “Deauthorize All Devices”. Or better to call it (see above why):
“Try to Deauthorize All Devices”
- I’ve never seen a Captcha dialog come up, but I’m in the USA and you’re in a different part of the world.
- I think I went through that installing 2024. I’m also a little confused about having a subscription with two possible logins plus an older classic license as well. Do you have to “login” to validate the Classic license and thus have the system see three logins?
- I found Deauthorization is further complicated by the feature that once you authorize an installation, it remembers (caches) that locally until the time comes to check again (30 days). It looked to me like that also applies to failure to authorize judging by the behavior of 2024 when I struggled with it. Once I failed to authorize locally, and then went and deauthorized all from the cloud, I then had to trash the cached file in order to force SU to check again with the cloud and authorization went through.
Just because I am currently in Germany, I do not accept that discrimination. If an AI decided to call me a robot based solely on my location, this is the least I accept.
I’m not using Classic license in this computer.
The other - company - computer has a classic license (SU2021, which is assigned to another email address and I am not logged in anywhere with that email address). On that computer sometimes I’m sign in to web app, EWH or 3DWH with my subscription licence via Edge browser only to give advice on the forum.
In a Manage devices, I would like to see on what basis the “system” decides that I have too many devices activated. There must be data there, because if they don’t know which device and which version is in use, then I assume they don’t have enough data to rule me out…
Currently there is no other option but: sign-in, sign-out, Deauthorize, sign-in, sign-out, Deauthorize, sign-in, sign-out, Deauthorize, sign-in, sign-out, Deauthorize… and hope whether I can keep my lips position well enough for them to finally accept me.
totally agree.
Facebook can tell me the model, os, ip and location of all the current and past connexions on my account.
SU can’t, even despite being only connected to two machines.
both of these machines have names, the minimum would be to tell us the name of the machine, version used, and date of connexion.

Just because I am currently in Germany, I do not accept that discrimination. If an AI decided to call me a robot based solely on my location, this is the least I accept.
I’ve had CAPTCHAs in a couple of situations before, when running a VPN (not just with trimble but even google), at a train station using free wifi and in a coworking. situations where connexions came through IPs with lots of people.
nowadays I use my phone’s connexion instead. more secure and no captcha.
If we only look at the picture, the answer is not so clear. I’ve never seen an apple that’s taller than a truck, I’ve never seen such a scale that a truck could fit. If we assume that the size of the apple is good, then the truck can only be a plastic model, which is much lighter than the apple. If the model is made of gold, the situation is different…
However:
The weight of the heaviest apple is 1.849 kg, the weight of an average truck is several tons - which is the correct assumption here - then we can say that your answer is correct, you can sit down, son!

when running a VPN
I’m sitting at home and not using a VPN. I don’t have a fixed IP address from my internet provider, but I guess the one randomly assigned is unique to me.

You might be in a vulnerable region:)
Tip:
Enable MFA:

The CAPTCHA only comes up when I have to log in to use Sketchup. It does not appear when logging ( in to Trimble Early Engagement- edited: today I got CAPTCHA there too ) on the forum. So the “control” is definitely not consistent.
If I follow the rules and log out-in of the software so as not to exceed the permitted usage, it is considered a spam, then this rule is wrong.

You might be in a vulnerable region:)
If a small town in Germany, next to Hamburg, is a vulnerable region … then it’s a ■■■■■■■ who added it to the database. The other “non smart” is the one who uses this faulty database.

Definitely a good idea in general.
But with this, I only add similar extra steps for logging in as if I were solving the picture puzzle.
A tiny plastic toy lorry might weigh less than the normal sized apple.
If all three objects are all drawn to the same scale then the giant apple might well weigh more than the lorry anyway - but of course the scale-balance is incorrectly drawn as its pivot point is floating in the air, so the real pivot point would likely be on one side of the base [or the other] depending on what is placed on the scales first.
The scale’s pans appear flat, so if the apple were put on first it’s likely that it’d fall off to the left as the pan dropped: the pans might be devised to remain flat as the balance see-saws, but the many tons of a full sized lorry would likely break the mechanism and crush things anyway…
To follow the wording of the question… whichever object is placed on the scales first will cause the scales to drop to that side. As the question never says that the objects are to be placed on the scales the scales will not move at all, because their position above the scales will cause no affect.
It’s a Craptcha…

maybe in the end, the heaviest thing was the friends we made along the way…

Me three. iCloud as well does this.

Possibly you have both a early engagement program license as well as a commercial license. (I do) If so, I’ve found that deauthorising both is the most reliable way to get it to work, although technically I think one of them is leading.
