Shadows settings greyed out cannot change date or time

Hi!

Im having a problem with latest version of Sketchup Pro (trial version). Im unable to change date or time under shadow settings. I have added a geolocation, dont have any scenes, using a default style. Im using sun for shading and shadows are turned on. But the option to change date and time in order to move the sun remains locked for me. Any advice? Restarting sketchup also doesnt work.

hello,
you probably have an active environment
Go to the environment panel and uncheck set sun location in the edit tab
Or, in this very same panel, go to “in model”/click on the little house and select “no environment”

yeah, if you turn off the environment for both reflections and skydome, it’s still technically active. meaning you can have an environment that does nothing yet prevents you from setting shadows.

yes and no, it is still used for shadows, you can set the sun location on the environment image

shad env

may be useful if you want to temporarly hide environments yet keep their light settings

sure, but you can’t change them in the shadow panel and it’s puzzling.

it happened to me last week in class, and it took me retracing my steps to find out why.
On the long run, I wouldn’t be surprised if shadow and environment panels were merged or at least redesigned.
