My sketchup model will not send to Layout. I just get a blank screen. It has been working fine up to now
That’s not much to go on.
In SketchUp, when you File > Send to Layout, do you get the Choose a Template dialog?
And if so, when you choose a template what happens next?
Out of curiosity, do many of us use File >Send to Layout in our workflows?
Personally - I always use File >Insert from Layout and I often Copy/Paste Viewports as well.
Just interested…
File > Send to Layout – never
For schematic work, yes, everyday. Multiple times a day sometimes.
I have templates pre-populated with my scenes that are keyed to my SKP files…
Send to LayOut, toggle on the correct client logo layer, fill in project data, walk through the pages to make sure I like how the viewports look, add dimensions and notes, export and on to the next
Hi Paul. Thanks for your response.
No. I am just getting a blank screen. Up until yesterday it was working fine.
Send to layout
Choose template
Open template and the model was imported fine.
I have knowingly altered any settings. Its really strange.
Thank
Hi Kevin
I have tied both options.
File/ send to layout and the send to layout button
Did you do a windows update since it was working?
Hi Steve
The method I suggested was from within the Layout program itself - File >Insert
Best of luck ![]()
Is the model saved on the harddrive in your computer or a detachable drive, network drive or in the cloud?
That works. But it’s a little long winded
Hi Box
Yes I have used windows since. But I do that every day without any issues
But I asked
Updates can change the graphic driver, but then you haven’t even told us which you have in your profile.
Hi Anssi
It on the cloud
I always use send to Layout because it populates my template with the correct scene in the view ports of each sheet. Although in 26 my Detail sheets with scrapbook scenes are getting corrupted with pieces of the new SketchUp model in place of the model in the scrapbook. Its strange because the SKP file names are different. I havent tried to edit into the scrapbook item and reset all in the Viewport Tray. Im sure that will fix it. I just delete and replace the Scrapbook Items.
I prefer to use Create LayOut File extension. I don’t know why the Extension Warehouse listing doesn’t show it to be compatible with 2026. Works just fine for me. (Mac)
Now what I’d really like is to be able to make a report using Generate Report and include it as a schedule on a LayOut page.
because the developper has to manually go mark it as compatible. but it doesn’t mean that it’s not compatible.
It would be nice for that developper to update it. ![]()
Can you try copying the file to a folder on your harddrive and trying the linking again?
