Send to Layout opens template but viewport is empty — v26.2.242 Mac

Hi all, hoping someone can help with a Send to Layout issue I’m having on Mac (Tahoe 26.5, SketchUp & Layout version 26.2.242).

When I use File > Send to Layout, Layout opens correctly and my template loads with all its fields and borders. There is a viewport box on the template with blue selection handles when clicked, but the SketchUp Model panel shows “No model selected” — meaning the viewport is empty and not linked to my SKP file.

I have confirmed the following:

  • Scenes exist in my SketchUp file and are saved with all properties

  • Both SketchUp and Layout are installed together in the same SketchUp 2026 folder in Applications

  • There are no .plo files in ~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2026/LayOut/

  • Layout itself works fine — if I open Layout separately and use File > Insert, the model appears correctly

  • The issue happens across multiple different SKP files

So the handoff from SketchUp to Layout is working (Layout opens, template loads, viewport box is there) but the model is not being placed into the viewport automatically as it should be.

Has anyone experienced this on v26.2 Mac, and is there a fix beyond using File > Insert as a workaround?

Thanks, Bob

Can you share a LO file that shows this?

Which Mac OS? Please update and complete your profile.

What happens when you relink that viewport? Check the references.

What are the (auto)rendering settings set to?

Off topic, opening LayOut and starting a new from template and than ‘inserting’ or relinking is the preferred way for many of us, so not considered a workaround per se

I had one like this recently on Mac where the file is embedded and also missing - which seems counter-intuitive as the file was actually there embedded. I had to unlink it, purge it in the document settings and then re-link to the SKP file.
If you are having the same it makes me think that something is “up”
