'send to layout' has stopped working since updating to 2024

Please can someone help me get send to layout working. I just get a blank grey screen. I’ve tried following previous conversations to correct it but reinstalling did not work and not sure how to execute some of the other methods.

Thanks

Also any of my previous layout files will not open

Have you opened LayOut after updating to v.2024?

Yeh, it does open and asks me what template to use, but regardless what template it just loads a blank grey screen. But 2023 version works still as normal

What SketchUp version do you have? The last update solved that problem.

Version 24.0.595

my sketchup works fine just the layup side of things. I’m sure its something im not doing right but i’m not sure what that is

How about sharing one of the Layout files that is not opening?

Joinery package 4.0.layout (8.2 MB)

Opens on my Windows PC in the latest 2024 version.

I suspect incompatibility between the new display system in SketchUp/LayOut and the Intel Iris integrated graphics in your system (if your profile is correct).

Same as mine.
Your file opens in my LayOut.
Do you have experimental graphics engine on? I don’t

I do have it on. I’ll try switch it off and see what happens

nope still nothing

But I’m getting slient crashing of SketchUp every time when I try to open the SketchUp file from Layout.

It’s maybe not necessarily this file in and of itself but maybe something wider about some files that is causing silent crashing – as I have been experienceing silent crashing on and off since the first release of 2024.

Not much recently but now with this Layout file SketchUp is silently crashing even when I try to open a file from SketchUp.

yeh I don’t understand what it is. Maybe its my laptop, it is from 2012 but 2023 version works fine.

There are already nine SketchUp references in the LayOut file. At least one isn’t used.

Are you trying to send another Sketchup model file to this LayOut file?

Side notes FWIW: I opened one of the model files and found I could purge a number of unused materials. It might be worth going through the rest of those models and purging unused.

I also see many of the viewports show the camera position has been changed. This can create problems for you when you’ve added labels and dimensions. I went through the file and reset the Camera properties for all of the viewports. Certainly for the elevations there’s no need to pan the camera. You can adjust the position of the model by moving the entire viewport and dragging the edges of the viewport.

Hey Dave, thanks for having a look too. No I wasn’t trying to add anything g else to this one, was just an example of one that wouldn’t open. I can’t even open a new blank layout.
