Bugsplat in Layout

I have a subscription to SketchUp Pro 2024.
As suggested, I am moving SU files from Dropbox to my desktop to work and open them from there. When working on Layout, these files keep crashing with the
Bugsplash and I get the attached sign even though I changed SU from “new graphics engine” to “graphic classic engine”. Unfortunately, with the graphic classic engine, we cannot use the Ambient Occlusion feature.
I never had this problem before.
Any suggestion other than getting SU 2025?
Thank you.
Chris

@Barry Could you check into this?

Please upgrade. All of these crashes go away with SketchUp 2024.0.1 or 2 and we get daily crashes with SketchUp 2024.0 (24.0.484).

We have an auto-response on that crash currently:

“A newer version of SketchUp is available that may resolve this crash. Please install any available updates to your SketchUp application under Help > Check for Updates. If you continue to experience issues please reach out to our support team at: https://help.sketchup.com/en/contact-support/technical-question/form

FWIW, SU2025 isn’t available yet.

Hi Barry,
In the Help pulldown, it shows a new version 24.0.553. Is that the same as 2024.0.2?

The current version of LayOut is 24.0.594.

That’s weird: That one will fix it (2024.0.1) but current is 2024.0.2 (the number Dave said).

I just downloaded the currently offered version of 2024 on the website. It shows as .0.594.

Installing it to see if it shows as different in About LayOut.

This is what I get (?)

As I showed, the current version is 24.0.594

I’ll get that fixed.

Try it now - it should give you 24.0.594 for Win now.

It still shows as 594.

594 is current. The issue was (before we patched it) that it would only go up 1 version and NOT to the current version. 2024.0.594 is current on Windows.

So what’s 598?

Barry’s typo? 594+4?

All builds are numbered, so it was probably a couple of builds after 594 that I downloaded internally. I fixed my typo above.

I installed 594 and all my extensions are there!!!
I hope this solves the Bugsplat problem in Layout.
Thank you guys!!

Hi guys,
Do we still need to move the SU files out of Dropbox to work on them?
Thank you.
Chris

Yup - it should. I had zero in our database with that version, and a LOT with the version you had.

You shouldn’t work on files that are directly saved to DropBox. Download them to your computer to work on them. If you want to save copies on DropBox go ahead and upload them back there. If you need cloud storage you could take advantage of Trimble Connect.
