Same issue here, updated to the latest nvidia drivers today, updated to the latest sketchup version today, I can’t open any existing file or empty template. Cannot work basically. This situation is unbelievable
In the home page of the Nvidia control panel, what product does it show you to be using? Also what is the driver version? The product will be named production, gaming, or studio. The version will be something like 576.02.
I set my PC laptop to be Studio and 576.02, in the hope of seeing the problem, but I still don’t. I did get a variation of the problem with Production and 572.83.
The issue seems to happen if you are using the new graphics engine, setting SketchUp to use the classic graphics engine would at least let you work. Of course, if you can’t open SketchUp to make that change, it could be a challenge…
Thanks for running some tests!
I did try to run sketchup with the classic engine (set, closed and reopened), but the issue happened regardless.
I manage to open it but for every file it takes between 10 and 20+ tries (apparently randomly):
either double clicking on a specific skp file, or opening a clean template/recent file from the welcome window
I checked a bugsplat you sent in a couple of weeks ago. The crash that time happened when the welcome screen was loading, which is before any extensions are loaded.
I see you have an AMD GPU as well as Nvidia. Do you get any more success if you set SketchUp to use the AMD instead of the Nvidia GPU?
