With the latest versions of SketchUp/LayOut, I am unable to load any ‘layout’ files into LayOut 2024. I am no longer able to open previously saved (i.e. 2023) LayOut files, nor even start a new layout from scratch. Have also tried creating a single solid in SketchUp 2024 and using ‘Send to Layout…’. This fails in same way.
In all cases, the result is the same. See attached
Note the corrupt menu in the top left, and I see flashes of empty UI elements which immediately disappear. Have watched it for up to 1 minute and the behavior is the same: every 3-4 seconds something flashes up, then disappears.
Have also tried using the ‘Repair’ option on the SketchUp installation. I have read other similar topics, but I do not have any custom templates.
Hi Sasquatch, sorry you are having issues with LO 2024. It sounds like the this maybe a result of your system not supporting the new graphics engine in SketchUp. This can manifest with LayOut not launching.
Please try the following.
Launch SketchUp 2024
Navigate to the SU Preferences
Select the Graphics tab
Select the “Use Classic Graphics Engine”.
Close dialog and you may need to close SketchUp and relaunch it to take affect.
Thanks for the suggestion Trent, but I finally solved the problem last night. Based on an older thread, I looked in the ‘C:\Users<userName>\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2024\LayOut’ folder and found two pairs of PLO files, which I deleted (per thread).
I then tried launching LayOut from explorer, and it launched without an issue. Two new PLO files showed up in that folder, and I was also able to launch from SketchUp using ‘Send to LayOut…’.
