Selection turns blue instead of the usual dots

I am sure there is a simple answer for this. My issue is - when I select a face it turns completely blue instead of the usual dots. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks

What are they? Show us an example.

It sounds like the 2D stipple not working due to some issue with DPI scaling. What SU version are you using and how much does your OS scale? A screenshot would also be useful to see.

here is the example - not selected and selected. Usually when I select something I get just small dots not entirely blue

the top one is selected and the bottom one is not selected

I don’t see your file.

here are the images for some reason I have having problems posting images

Can you share the SKP file?

I cannot share the file and when I tried to and purged everything out of the file to share - the problem went away and selection was the same as it always is

there is something wrong with the original file - has anyone ever had this issue?

I’ve never seen that exactly but it would appear to be a graphics issue. Possibly related to something at a create distance from the origin. Without seeing the file that exhibits the problem., we can only guess.

If the file is too big to upload, you could upload it to Drop Box and share the link.

Sorry but there is no way I can share the original file and I really appreciate your help - this is the only file I have this issue with and I cannot figure out what the issue is - it is something with the file. I did not create it

Well then, figure out what it is that you got rid of that made the problem go away. If getting rid of something in the file by purging fixed the problem, then something you put in the file must have caused it. Maybe some poorly made component from the 3D Warehouse or elsewhere.

Thanks - there is something in the file that is causing the problem and I have never had this problem before

I understand that. You’ve written this several times already. Evidently it doesn’t do it it you just start a new file so it’s not anything in the template. It’s something you’ve added at some point in the modeling process. You’ve already said that clearing out the file and purging fixes the problem. So what is it that you added to the SketchUp file that causes the problem and once it has been removed makes the problem go away. Since you can’t or won’t share the SKP file, it’ll be up to you to figure out what the problem thing is. Use a methodical approach getting rid of a couple of things at a time to see if there’s a change in the behavior.

Or, since you can clear away a bunch of stuff and get rid of the problem, maybe it’s time to just move on. Maybe it’ll never turn up again.

Is this limited to one specific file or all files on this system?

just the one file

If you go to styles, modeling and selection color, is it any different from other models?

Thanks - I did check that and I could not find any differences and I also tried different styles all with the same result
