I’m trying to resize some generic furniture that I’ve pulled in from the 3-D warehouse. The tape doesn’t seem to like to snap to the groups container a lot of the times. Also, if I do get the tape to work and try to type in a new dimension it asks if I want to resize the whole model. Other times it asks if I want to resize the group, I only want to resize the group.
If you only want to resize the object, open it for editing first. The scaling only occurs in the current context. Make sure you at least have hidden geometry visible. If the edges in the component are all hidden which is common with a lot of furnitre from the 3DWH, there’ll be nothing for the Tape to snap to.
You need to be in the context of the group to only resize the group.
Draw a reference line, use the tape to measure it, then scale from there.
