i tried the free update not knowing it was then at the end going revert to the web version, (which is not what i want) now i need to fine a way to open these files in the older version. i.e. version 17. desk top version. is there any hope or do i have to redraw them from scratch?
Do you mean you tried Sketchup 2018 desktop version and now you want to open them in Sketchup 2017?
Anything downloaded from the web version will open naturally in Sketchup 2017.
i tried the 18 pro version, once this expired i found i could only open these files in the web version. on trying to open them in the 17 version i get this box.
There are a couple of options. You can open the file in the web based version and download it back to your computer. It’ll come as a V17 file. Or you could upload it to the 3D Warehouse and then open it from SU2017 directly.
Since you were using the 2018 Pro trial, you weren’t using the web based version. Is that correct?
i did use the trail pro version, and i did afterwards open some of them in the web version, unaware it was going to be a problem. Thanks very much for your help.
