As for your title bar stuff, you have it on a layer that is set to show the same contents on each page. Look to the far right of the layer name in the Layers window and you’ll see the “Shared” icon as below.
Use that layer for stuff that you want to be the same on every page. For the content that needs to be different on every page, use a layer that is set to non-shared. The icon looks like this:
Here’s an example of the layers from one of my templates.
The last two layers in the list are shared layers and contain the content that needs to be the same on every page. The “Other Title Text” layer is used for title block content that is different on every page. All the layers from “Model” up are for project-specific content. Also note that the “Model” layer is active. The template was saved with that layer active so when I send to LO from SketchUp the first viewport is automatically on the correct layer.
As for creating new pages, you can use the Add Page button at the top instead of Duplicate if you want. Anything on a shared layer will show up on the new page anyway.
Duplicate will copy the stuff that is on non-shared layers, too. See which one works better for you.
I didn’t have any problem importing it into SketchUp and it pretty much looks like what I would expect for a dwg file. The geometry is all housed in a component. You would need to open that component for editing to be able to modify any of the geometry within. Oddly some of the geometry for the knobs on the BBQ were inserted as components, too. There was also an odd little bit of geometry way off away from the rest of the model.
It didn’t look particularly useful so I deleted it from the attached file. I also exploded those components for the knobs on the BBQ. Will this file work for you? Lloyd Draft.skp (4.6 MB)
This SU file opens fine, so did the DWG file. It’s more that I have been trying to explode it, so that I didn’t have to work on it within the component. Every time I try and explode the whole lot, or even copy paste a section out, the apple spinning wheel comes up and I have to shut down the program. It’s really strange, I don’t know why it won’t just explode the whole component so I can separate it.
I have just copied and pasted each section that I wanted into a new file, and now they are behaving correctly! Weird. So much to learn! Thanks again and I hope you are well.
I’m not sure why it won’t explode for you. You could try doing that from the Outliner.
Odd that you were able to copy each section unless you had already either opened the large component for editing or already exploded it. At least it seems to be working now.
